SCP Team Blue Rebounds After Exhibition Loss From Previous Weekend
On Sunday November 27th, SCP Team Blue hosted a game against overall league leaders, the Windsor Wildcat Team Blue.   The result was a 5-0 defeat.   Luckily for these predators, it was an exhibition game, and more than that, a reminder to the team that they need to compete hard every game, especially against a top team like Windsor Blue.

After that tough loss, the team needed to find their game, and that they did.

To open the final league month of December, there was an exhibition game against a previous opponent, the Southpoint Stars.  This was a team they had faced previously in October, when they had a resounding victory by a score of 4-1.   But all teams in this league have been improving throughout this season, just as this Predators team has, so they could not expect the same result without hard work and effort.    The team showed up and played hard.  Emmie Poirier scored goals in the first and second periods, with an assist by Reese Baillargeon on the 2nd tally.   The score stayed 2-0 until the Stars got one back with a minute to go.    That was all the Stars would get.  The Predator's scored a 2-0 victory to get back into the win column.

The next afternoon, the Preds travelled out of town to face a new opponent, the Chatham Kent Crush.   This was a league game, and an important one at that.  With only a few games remaining on many teams schedules, and the points standings very tight, all games herein will be determining where you will end up in the final standings.  Before either of these teams hit the ice, they were already getting up to play, with team chanting filling the arena from both competitors.   They did not stop there as when the puck dropped to start the game, until the final whistle, it was full speed ahead from both sides.    With the action going end to end, each team was keeping their opponents at bay until Harper Boudreau scored at 4:23 of the first period, assisted once again by her line mate Adalynn Russell.   Going into the 2nd period 1-0 Preds, the Chatham team started to have some opportunities as well, but goaltender Olivia Versnal was there to stop all shots coming at her.   Finally, with only minutes remaining in the period, the puck was put towards the Chatham goal from the far end of the ice.   A race to the puck ensued between Crush and Predator players, where Victoria Thompson won the race, took the puck, and scored on a nice shot low glove side on the Chatham goalie.  Assist on the goal went to Emmie Poirier who was playing her first game on defence, although you wouldn't know it.   With the Predators leading 2-0 going into the 3rd period, they took the game to their opponent, and closed the game out at the same score.

This was a big win for the team, and a great weekend.   With only 2 games to go now in the regular season, every point matters and they were up to the task.   They will face another tough task on Dec 11th when they face an excellent and well coached team in the Essex Thunder.   This is the same team they took to OT in the Lakeshore tournament and  I think all fans have marked this game on their calendar's since that game.

Until then, GO BLUE!
