Challenge Accepted by SCP Team Blue
The South County Predators Team Blue were faced with some hurdles going into the first weekend of November.  They had 2 away games on their schedule and were looking at a short bench in both games, combined with some players not feeling 100% game day ready.

Short on forward and defense, and with some players not at their physical best, SCP was facing the undefeated Windsor Wildcat Blue Team on Saturday night.   The game was high paced and tightly battled for the first 5 minutes of the game. Then the Windsor team showed why they were undefeated 4 games into their season scoring 3 goals in the final five minutes of the frame to go up 3-0 heading into the second period.   In the second period Team Blue turned their game around and put more pressure on Windsor in their zone along with playing some sound defensive hockey.  The goaltending was great at both ends of the rink in this 2nd period.   Blair Davis finally got Team Blue on the board, assisted by Addy Russell.  Windsor also scored before the period was done making it 4-1 going to the 3rd period.   From there, the SCP team lost their speed, showing the effects of their player situation.   If not for some great saves by Olivia Versnal in the 3rd period, this score would not have been what was on the scoreboard.  Final Score Windsor 6 SCP 1.

These girls faced a quick turnaround, with a game on Sunday at 11:30am at the ATC against Lakeshore Black.  Short handed once again, with only two rostered defense dressing for the game, Robyn Humber volunteered to take a spot on the blue line instead of her usual wing position to make it only three defenseman for the 2nd game in a row.  From the start of the game clock you would not have known this team had just played a game less than 16hrs prior.   They had their speed back and put some relentless pressure on the Lakeshore goaltender.   The score stayed tied until with 28 seconds left in the period, Blair Davis made it 1-0, extending her goal scoring streak to 4 games.   The pressure continued into the 2nd with SCP getting several shots on goal.  However they could not get another one past the goaltender.   With a faceoff deep in their zone midway through the frame, lakeshore put one in the net off the puck drop and just like that the game was tied at 1 all.    With a tie game going into the 3rd period, you wondered how these girls would respond with the situation they were now in and showing some fatigue.   You saw quickly what this team was made of when they had their best period of the weekend in the 3rd period when everything was looking to be against them.  They held the puck in the offensive zone for the majority of the period, and limited the Lakeshore attack to only a few shots on goal.   Then at 5:42 Blair Davis scored her second of the game to break the tie and reward the hard work of this Predators team.   They didn't stop there, when only a little over a minute later, Harper Boudreau scored her FIRST goal of her career off a scramble in front of the goal.   And that is the way it ended - SCP 3- Lakeshore Black 1.

Next weekend will be a tune up weekend for this team before they enter their first Tournament the weekend of Nov 18th.  They will have a game against Tecumseh on Saturday Night, with an exhibition game on Sunday.   See you there!
