Another
fast weekend of hockey has come and gone, unfortunately we were handed our
first regular season loss.
Our U13
Blue team was pumped going into the Saturday night showdown at the South Windsor
Rec Complex, this time meeting the SPFHA Yellow (Lasalle) team. Our ladies looked to build off the hard come
from behind tie against Essex that finished last weekends games. We were short a few great players and needed
to call up a familiar face to some of the SCP U13 team to fill in.
The game went back and forth as was shown in
the shot totals for the game, Lasalle slightly led in shots 18-16 at the
completion of the game, but I think we can all agree we had our chances, just
missing the back of the goal many times; remember aim small, miss small ladies,
when practicing at home. The game was never out of our reach and with another
great end-to-end rush by Elle Brinacombe, gave the preds our only goal of the game
losing 3-1.
Some positives taken from
this game was the improved board work by our defense to get the pucks up to our
wingers, great successful penalty killed off and some great faceoffs won in the
offensive zone. All of these will lead
to more success on the ice and hopefully contribute to great practice for
learning some more skills.
Our hardest
working Predator award went to a player that sacrifices just about anything to
stop a player with the puck, and sometimes wears herself out so much on a shift
that a quick powernap is needed on the bench!!
Charlotte Hill earned her spot with a signature on the hardest working
predator vest and a photo op, congratulations Charlotte (PS we are heading into
your favorite napping rink all weekend)!!
We have our
first tourney of the season in Lakeshore this weekend, I know our house is excited
for the weekend as I am sure other households are too. The team and player stats will be updated on our
Team SCP page and can’t wait to see these Ladies have a blast and make some
great memories together, GO Blue!!!
