What an end to an incredible season!Well team, we have lots to reflect on when looking back at the season!
There was ups and downs throughout, but the one thing that stayed consistent was the positive attitudes of each and every one of the girls on the team. Right from the start of the season, it was evident that you were a special group of young women. Each of you were open to one another and it was clear that many new friendships were forming amongst the group.
As we arrived at the arena today, we arrived as a team that has bonded through the challenges that a hockey season presents. During both games today, we were able to move the puck to the open ice, kept working hard and we were fortunate to come out of a very close game as Champions.
On a personal note, it has been an absolute pleasure to be your coach this season. Both the individual and team growth is nothing short of impressive. When speaking with the coaches, each and every player on the team advanced their skills and that is a tribute to the hard work and dedication that each of you put in every time you are on the ice with the team. You made this season enjoyable for us for so many reasons and as a coaching staff we want to say thank you to our players for the experience you provided each of us!
In addition to our fantastic young ladies on the ice, there are a number of other people that were integral to our season. All of our Den Mom's that helped get the girls ready before practices and games, keeping our dressing room positive and fun, we couldn't have done it without you! Also, our Training Manager; Julia! You were along side the girls every step of the way and were always willing to jump in and help with whatever was needed.
To the assistant coaches, the season wouldn't have been the same without you guys! It was a blast being out on the ice with you at practices and working behind the scenes to help keep the drills fresh and challenge the girls as their skill level advanced throughout the year. A big thank you to both Bret and Dan for their work throughout what has turned in to such a successful season. We also can't forget to mention one of the best practice coaches I have had the pleasure of coaching with and that would be the one and only Coach Dave! You committed so much of your time this season to coming out and skating with the girls at practice and you were a big reason we had as much fun on the ice as we did!
Lastly, to our parents. I don't know what else to say so you as a group other than thank you! You have made this season such a special one for the coaches as you were all so very appreciative throughout and it is something that didn't go unnoticed. Your support and excitement for the team was contagious and if there was a prize for fans, you'd be winners for sure!
I hope that each of the girls continue their hockey journey in to next season and many more to come after that!
