From the Bench....
A half season review and looking forward to full ice hockey!

Hello all,

Reflecting back on what we have accomplished so far this season, I keep coming back to the word "Proud".

When our season began, we had girls of varying skills that were just getting to know one another and over time they have all come out of their shells.  It has also been fantastic to watch and play a part in the progression of the girl's skill level, a sentiment shared by all of the coaches.

What has made this team unique and what is different about them?  What it boils down to is a trusting parent group that are allowing the coaches to push the girls in practice and an incredible group of young women who not only wear their SCP jerseys with pride but if you've been to a game, I am sure you have heard them from just about anywhere in the arena cheering for one another!  The connections that they have formed with one another and their desire to take in everything that the coaches discuss has been nothing short of spectacular.  As we look at the development of their game play from our very first half ice game to our most recent, it is official folks, we have become a hockey team!

It is inspiring as a coach to see the level of commitment that the girls have for one another.  They understand that this game is won and lost as a team and they work together to accomplish their goals.  In conversation with the coaches on-ice during games, the communication is there, the effort is clear and most importantly all of the girls have a smile on their face as they have put together what can only be described as an incredible start to the year!

As we head in to the break, the coaching staff wanted to wish all of the SCP families involved with our team a very happy holiday season!  We hope that everyone is able to enjoy a few days off from hockey before we are back on the ice for our first tournament of the year, supporting a truly great cause at the Hockey for Hospice jamboree.

Early in the new year, the coaching staff will be meeting with all of the other team coaches to develop our schedules which will be updated on the app as soon as they are completed.

As a final note, I would like to thank you personally for the commitment that has been given to this team both from your daughters and each of you as parents.  It is always a pleasure chatting with you in the hallway before a practice or receiving a congratulations after a big win (thankfully we have had a bunch of those!) and the girls have made coming to the rink just as much fun for the coaches as we hope they are having themselves!  We are lucky to have the group we do and we can't wait to get back out there with them and teach them the full ice game of hockey in the new year!
