South County Predators and Kids Curing Cancer: A Heartfelt Partnership with a Powerful Impact
The South County Predators Girls Hockey Association, in collaboration with Kids Curing Cancer (KCC), has once again exceeded expectations in their fundraising efforts. Over the past few years, this partnership has grown into a true testament to the power of community and the difference that a group of dedicated individuals can make in the fight against cancer.
A Tradition of Giving Back
The latest fundraising effort, which wrapped up just a couple of weeks ago, has resulted in a total of $8,450 raised by the South County Predators players. These funds will be presented to Erie Shores Healthcare as part of Kids Curing Cancer’s overall campaign to help furnish the new MRI suite. In just three years of collaboration, the South County Predators and KCC have collectively raised an astounding $28,335 for local healthcare initiatives—directly supporting families, neighbours, and friends in the community.
What makes this accomplishment even more special is the fact that every dollar has remained local, helping to fund critical medical equipment for local healthcare providers. The impact of these efforts will be felt for years to come, as these donations will directly benefit families in our own backyard.
Recognizing Extraordinary Efforts
A standout in this fundraising campaign has been Natalia Desormeaux, a player with the U22 Yellow team. Over the past three years, Natalia has personally raised $6,480 for Kids Curing Cancer, contributing nearly 23% of the total raised by the South County Predators. Natalia's journey has been marked by perseverance and embodying the values of kindness and community spirit. Her dedication has made her not only an exceptional fundraiser but also a beloved teammate and a role model to others.
Special Recognition
Along with Natalia, several other players have earned recognition for their outstanding fundraising efforts:
- First Place: Natalia Desormeaux (U22 Yellow)
- Second Place: Riley Varney (U22 Yellow)
- Third Place: Evelyn Genereaux (U11 Blue)
And for the third year in a row, the U22 Yellow Team emerged as the Top Raising Team, a testament to their commitment and teamwork in supporting this important cause. Congratulations to all players who participated and gave their time and energy to this effort—your contributions have made a significant difference.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this incredible achievement, we would like to take a moment to thank all the players, families, coaches, and especially our friends at Kids Curing Cancer who made this possible. From collecting donations to organizing events and supporting one another, your efforts have been truly remarkable. This fundraising success not only reflects the dedication of the South County Predators but also the collective spirit of the community.
The South County Predators and Kids Curing Cancer have shown that when we come together for a common cause, we can accomplish incredible things. We are already looking forward to the next chapter in this ongoing partnership and the new ways in which we can continue to make a positive impact in the lives of children and families facing cancer.
