Halloween Weekend Not So Scary for these Predators
Heading into the end of the first month of the season, SCP Team Blue were facing a tough challenge in their Saturday Night opponent in the Lasalle Sabrecats Black Team.

This was a game between two undefeated teams currently in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Essex-Kent Girls Interlock Hockey League standings.   Both of these teams came out ready to play, and the spectators received an early Halloween treat.  At the outset the pace was fast and full of end to end action.   The battles for the puck were fierce on both sides.  Near the end of period #1 the Sabrecats broke loose and scored the first goal of the game.   After that, the SCP Team Blue regrouped and took the game to their opponent.   However, the goalie for Lasalle Black proved she was not going to lose on this night, stopping every breakout shot, rebound, wraparound and deflection that came toward her net.   Final Score Sabrecats 1 Predators 0.

Team Blue had to get their rest in and show up the next day for a Sunday noon game at Kingsville Arena versus the Southpoint Stars.  From the drop of the puck, until the final whistle blew, you could not tell these girls had played a highly contested game the previous evening.   The predators controlled the puck and the zone play for almost the entirety of the game, and had relentless pressure on the Southpoint goaltender.  If not for the goalies play, this game would have been over after period #1.    Blair Davis opened the scoring for Team Blue halfway through the first period to make it 1-0 Predators.   It stayed that way until Blair scored her 2nd of the game, assisted by Reese Baillargeon, early into the 3rd period.   A minute later Emmie Poirier put the puck into the net, assisted by Victoria Thompson.  Finally to close the game out, Robyn Humber (finally) scored her first of the year assisted by Sophie Gobbo.   Final score South County Predators Team Blue 4 Southpoint Stars 1.

Sitting at 3-1 on the season, these Ladies will be facing another challenging opponent in the first place Windsor Wildcats Team Blue, followed by a game with the Lakeshore Lightning Black Team.   It should be another exciting weekend of hockey.

Happy Halloween!
